i hate this show. it's so formulaic, i'm surprised there are even people who get paid to write/produce it. i mean seriously, i could set up this show with a simple questionaire. the questions would be something like

#1. How do you consider yourself politically?
a) strongly conservative
b) a moderate
c) strongly liberal

#2. How do you feel about gender roles?
a) strongly conservative--men are men and women are women. enough said.
b) i'm not sure what you mean
c) strongly liberal--the feminist movement was in the 60s, surely this isn't still an issue?

#3. What are your views on possessions?
a) i work very hard and enjoy spending my money to make my life comfortable
b) you know, i've never really thought much about that....
c) i believe that possessions and materialism are shallow and meaningless. those who highly value either are shallow people who have their values confused.


now, take everyone who responded "a)" to every question, and match them with people who responded "c)" to every question. (tell the people who responded "b)" that you're sorry, but all the positions have been filled.) let the (contrived) drama commence.



and yet, once i start watching it, i can't stop. my husband calls it "trainwreck television," because you just can't look away. blech... i hate myself every time i get sucked in, and wish i had that 20-60 mins of my life back.
